Happy 3rd Birthday Diamond Dreams

Three years ago two brothers started Sydney’s first full time professional baseball & softball Instruction Company. We started with a borrowed car and a single goal in mind. And in the midst of an economic downturn we have experienced tremendous growth due to a sound business plan, providing first class services, and offering a fresh outlook on coaching that we believed was sorely needed in Australia.

As I sit here on a flight to Los Angeles, I recall the first Diamond Dreams session with a gangly 9 year old from Lane Cove who had the modest goal of becoming a better player in order to ‘hold his own’ on his local club team. The truth is, I am sitting on this flight today because of the hard work put in over the past 3 years by this young man. It is my great pleasure to say that Flynn Stallworthy has not only succeeded in earning more playing time on his club team, he is now recognized as one of the premier players in his age ground in the nation by earning a spot on this year’s Australian Nation Team to compete in the 2012 Cal Ripken World Series.

Flynn’s dedication to his game and physical conditioning has been truly outstanding. But not to be outdone, the Diamond Dreams coaching staff is equally proud of Sebastian McAlister, a catcher and member of the Australian 2012 Cal Ripken squad. Like Flynn, Sebastian has dedicated the past twelve months to earning selection to this team. Quite simply, I am one proud coach.

What some of you might not know is that Diamond Dreams may never have gotten the ground firstly without the need for independent professional coaching and secondly without the many players, parents, and teams, willing to take a chance on our services. During this time our coaches have developed many long lasting relationships with players and parents. I would like to make a special mention of a few people who have been there from the beginning; The Richardson’s, Barbaro’s, Stallworthy’s, Steel’s, & Johnstone’s.

So exactly how far have we come? From a borrowed car and a handful of clients we have created a client base from Gosford to the Blue Mountains to Wollongong, and everywhere in between. In 2012 we welcomed a truly fantastic softball coach in Michelle Edgtton who has taken the job of Head Softball Coach and made it her own.

With so many exciting projects in the works for the end of 2012 and early 2013, there are plenty of good times ahead for Diamond Dreams. Thank you all for the last three years and from everyone at Diamond Dreams I can say that the next three years look to be even more exciting!

  1. I am very proud to say that I’ve become friends with Craig and Brett. I have seen Brett’s coaching first hand as he helped lead a team of all freshman and sophomores to the North Carolina State finals. I have only seen video of Craig’s coaching sessions, but I believe that he is epitome of a first class coach and someone any parent would want to coach their son or daughter. Best of luck to both Sebastian and Flynn and I hope you enjoy your visit to the USA. Congrats to Craig, Brett and all the other coaches, players and supporters for making Diamond Dreams what it is today.
